Jeni Jones

Jeni Jones first danced on stage 30 years ago with the Joffrey Ballet at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Segerstrom Center. She danced on scholarship at Defore Dance Center in the 1990s, where she began her Luigi-style Jazz Dance training with Hama and simultaneously joined the modern, Giordano-style company Jazz Spectrum under the direction of Christine Baltes. She studied Fosse and Theatre Jazz at the Broadway Theatre Project with Ann Reinking, Joel Grey, and Tommy Tune. Jeni earned her BA from Fordham University and her MFA from CalArts, while training at notable N.Y. and L.A. institutions with legendary Jazz dance educators, such as Luigi, Frances J. Roach, Hama, Joe Tremaine, Jackie Sleight, and Claude Thompson, to name a few. She has also studied modern styles such as Graham, and Horton, which are often incorporated into her work.

Her students have gone on to star on Broadway and in films. Jeni performs on stages of all sizes, in musicals, and in film & TV. She teaches Master Classes and presents original work at dance concerts including Masters of Movement at the Broad Theatre, Jazz Dance Conference West, and the AZ Dance Festival. She is the Artistic Director and Owner of LeDam Dance Company. In addition to dance, Jeni is an award-winning filmmaker, NAACP Award-winning theatre director, actor, martial artist, and MC.

She is currently on faculty at Westside Ballet in LA and at Hama Dance Center, where she joyfully serves as Hama’s Assistant. Jeni is always thrilled to share her thoughtful, heartfelt Luigi-Hama style Jazz Dance Class with dancers around the globe by teaching Master Classes, Workshops, and answering special calls to share her vast dance knowledge and love of dance. // IG: @JeniAnneJones
