Jeni Jones
Jeni Jones first danced on stage 30 years ago with the Joffrey Ballet at the Dorothy Chandler & Segerstrom Center. She danced on scholarship at Defore Dance Center in 1994 where she began studying Luigi technique with Hama & joined Jazz Spectrum under Christine Baltes. She studied Fosse & Theatre Jazz at the Broadway Theatre Project with Ann Reinking, Deb McWaters, Joel Grey & Tommy Tune. Jeni earned her BA from Fordham & her MFA from CalArts, while practicing with legendary educators, such as Luigi, Hama, Francis Roach, Joe Tremaine, Jackie Sleight & Claude Thompson, to name a few. She has also studied modern dance styles such as Graham & Horton, which she incorporates into her work. Jeni has earned her black belt in the Chinese Martial Art of Wushu and has directed, performed, produced & choreographed for stages & screens of all sizes, dancing in musicals, in film & on TV. Jeni has taught all over & joyfully serves through her vast arts practice, which currently includes assisting Hama’s classes & spreading her passion for his, and Luigi’s, body of work. “Never stop moving.”~Luigi
